On the Waitangi treaty ground you will find the largest war canoe in the world: Ngatokimatawhaorua (35m), named after the canoe in which the legendary Polynesian navigator Kupe discovered New Zealand. A minimum of 76 paddlers are required to handle it safely on the water.
