In Harcourt Park near Upper Hutt you will find the tree that were cut by the Orcs to provide fuel for the furnaces of Saruman.
The park is also home to one of the best examples of an earthquake fault line in New zealand.
The Wellington fault passes through the park and in the 19th century a large earthquake shook this area, lifting the ground some 5m and diverting the course of the Hutt River (you still see the old river bed stones)
